Brachydactyly type
WebBrachydactyly type B (BDB) is a condition characterized by incomplete development (hypoplasia) or absence of the outermost bones of the fingers and toes (distal phalanges) and nails. Additional features may include hypoplasia of the middle phalanges, fusion of the joints (symphalangism), broad thumbs, and webbed fingers (syndactyly). WebBrachydactyly A is also called brachymesophalangia because there is a shortening of the middle phalanges. In brachydactyly type A1 (Farabee type, BDA1; OMIM 112500), all middle phalanges are short or hypoplastic, and the proximal phalanges of the thumbs and halluces may be shortened.
